First United Methodist Church in Crestview, Florida is seeking a full-time Children’s Minister. We are located in a fast-growing military community, with tremendous opportunities for growth. At present, our children’s ministry typically welcomes 40 unique participants every month, with an average weekly attendance of 28 kids on Sunday mornings.
First United Methodist Church unites the diversity of our community to the grace of Jesus Christ through discipleship, worship, and service. We are a multi-generational church that worships in both traditional and contemporary styles. Our Wesleyan Child Care Center has been repeatedly recognized as the top performing Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten program in north Okaloosa County. We also have active outreach programs to our neighborhood and a passion for serving our community through our Soup Kitchen, Cold Night Shelter and other community partnerships. We are an equipping church, committed to involving all of the church in ministry. We have a dedicated Children’s Ministry Team comprising the volunteer coordinators of our weekly programs and yearly events. These coordinators will partner with the Children’s Minister in the spiritual formation of our youngest disciples.
The primary responsibilities of the Children’s minister include:
Establishing personal relationships that lead children and parents to faith in Jesus Christ.
Designing, developing, and implementing a vibrant, comprehensive, growing, and sustainable ministry for children from birth through 5th grade.
Recruiting and equipping paid and volunteer children’s ministry personnel.
Collaborating and communicating regularly with staff colleagues to create a sense of united and shared purpose across our ministries.
First United Methodist Church is looking for a passionate, organized, energized leader who has a heart for children, their parents, and the teams of the church who pour into young people. In addition, this individual should have skills in long-range planning, communication, and leading the systems and processes necessary to sustain a healthy ministry. Previous experience or a degree in Christian education is preferred, and pay will be commensurate with experience. Successful candidates will have experience with Microsoft Office and the ability to master essential software and church management systems. They will be able to share their personal faith in a way that is consistent with the core beliefs of the United Methodist Church.
